Delgardo , Curtis
Curtis Delgardo was a standout halfback at Renton high school in Washington where he scored 94 points to lead the league in scoring his senior year. After high school he continued his record setting career at NCAA Division II Portland State University (1986-1990) where he established 15 school records as a running back. Among his records was a career 6,942 all-purpose yards (6th highest for all divisions), most rushing yards in a game (225), most rushing yards in a season (1,408) and most rushing yards in a career (4,178)and 5.9 yards per carry. He was a three time All-Western Football Conference selection and 1989 conference MVP. After college he signed for tryouts with the San Diego Chargers, New York/New Jersey of the World League of American Football and Saskatchewan of the Canadian Football League. He also played semi-pro in the Northwest Football Alliance. Delgardo was inducted into the Portland State University Sports Hall of Fame in 1999.
