Jonathan Creon Stewart played high school football at Timberline High School, Lacey, Washington before accepting a scholarship to play at the University of Oregon. Stewart began his Oregon career in 2005 as a runningback before announcing at the close of the 2007 season he would enter the NFL draft, and not play college football his senior year. Many regard Stewart as Oregon's greatest back ever. He rushed for a career 2,891 yards and 27 touchdowns in three seasons that included 334 yards receiving and 4 receiving touchdowns. In 2007, he set the school single season rushing record of 1,722 yards, and a single season record 2,481 all-purpose yards. He concluded his junior year by leading Oregon to a 56 to 21 victory over the University of South Florida in the Sun Bowl. Stewart set a Sun Bowl record with 253 yards rushing. He was named Oregon's 22nd All-American and was a unanimous first team All-PAC-10 selection at runningback.
