Mortenson , Bruce Bruce Mortenson was an outstanding distance runner at the University of Oregon (1963-1966) and posted personal bests of 4:10 for the mile and 8:59 for the steeplechase. In 1965, he was NCAA champion in the steeplechase with a time of 9:00.8 and in 1966 he was third in the NCAA steeplechase with a time of 9:00.2.
