Brosius , Scott
Scott Brosius was born in Hillsboro, Oregon and was a high school baseball star at Rex Putnam High School. After three excellent years of baseball at Linfield College he was drafted by the Oakland Athletics in the 20th round (510th overall) of the 1987 Major League Baseball draft. In 1991, he played outfield for the Athletics although he had been a third baseman in college. 1997 found him with the New York yankees where he was an All-Star in 1998, and played on three World Series Championship teams and in the 1998 World Series he was voted Most Valuable Player after hitting .427 with a slugging percentage of .824. In 1999, he was a Golden Glove winner. Brosius was inducted into the State of Oregon Sports Hall of Fame and Museum in 2005.
