Huntley , Joni
Joni Huntley was a nationally ranked high jumper at Oregon State University. In 1975, she won the high jump and long jump in the AIAW National Track & Field Championships in Corvallis. The meet hosted 103 schools and was the largest womens track & field meet ever held. Huntley won the 1975 Pan Am Games with a meet record jump of 6 ft. 2.5 in. During her career she participated in the 1976 and 1984 Olympics, winning bronze in her last competition with a personal record of 6 ft. 5.5 in. She was the top ranked U.S. womens high jumper five times and was ranked in the top 10 nationally for 13 straight years. For three straight years from 1975-1977 she won the U.S. Womens Outdoor Track Championship. Huntley was won the Hayward Award as Oregon's top amateur athelte and was inducted into the Oregon State University Sports Hall of Fame in 1988, and the State of Oregon Sports Hall of Fame in 1990.
