Sassaman , Nate
Nate Sassaman was a star quarterback at Aloha High School, Beaverton, Oregon and during his senior season in 1980 he ran the school's powerful veer offense. He was recruited by West Point and began his career for Army as a defensive back. However, in 1984 he switched to quarterback where he was very successful running Army's option offense. His most successful season was 1984 when led the team to an 8 win 3 loss and 1 tie season, and Army's first Bowl victory which was a 10 to 6 win over Michigan State in the Cherry Bowl. During 1984, he also led Army to a victory over arch rival Navy in a 28 to 11 win. In the victory he rushed for 154 yards and 2 touchdowns, and for the season he rushed for 1,002 yards.
