Rocha , Ephraim "Red"
Ephraim "Red" Rocha was born September 18, 1923, and played center on the basketball team at Oregon State University where he was an All-Pacific Coast selection in 1945, 46, and 47. In 1947, he was also selected to the All-American team. The swift Rocha played professionally in the Basketball Association of America (BAA), and NBA during the late 1940s and early 1950s. In 1951, he played in the first NBA All-Star game, and in 1955 he helped the Syracuse Nationals win the NBA Championship. During his professional career he totaled 6,362 points and later coached the Detroit Pistons and the University of Hawaii. In 1980, he was elected to the State of Oregon Sports Hall of Fame, and in 1990 he was elected to the Oregon State University Hall of Fame.
