Basinski , Eddie
Edwin Frank Basinski began his professional baseball career with the Brooklyn Dodgers and played with them in 1944 and 1945. In 1947, he played for the Pittsburg Pirates. During his major league career he batted .244, 4 home runs, and 59 RBIs. From 1947 to 1957 he played second base for the Portland Beavers where he became known as "Mr. Portland Beaver." After ten seasons with the Beavers he played for the Seattle Rainiers in 1957 and 1958, and finished his career with the Vancouver Mounties in 1960. During his career in the Pacific Coast League he amassed 1,426 hits, 579 RBIs, 99 home runs, batted .259 and played in 1,596 games. In 1987, he was inducted into the State of Oregon Sports Hall of Fame, and in 2006 he was elected to the Pacific Coast League Hall of Fame.
