Stoudamire , Charles
Charles Stoudamire was an outstanding high school football and basketball player at Washington High School where he attained All-PIL honors in both sports. From 1969 to 1972, he continued his athletic career at Portland State University where he was outstanding in both football and basketball. After his basketball career came to an end he ranked 6th all-time for Portland State in points (1,179) and 6th all-time in rebounds (646), in just three seasons. His career averages were 15.7 points per game, 8.6 rebounds per game, and he ranked 9th all-time in assists with 201. His achievements on the football field from 1969 to 1971 included leading the team for three straight years in rushing, all-purpose yards and kickoff returns, and he led the team two seasons in punt returns. In 1969, he had 1,438 all-purpose yards followed by 1,112 all-purpose yards in 1970 and 909 all-purpose yards in 1971. In 1972, he was drafted in the 7th round by the Detroit Lions, but an injury prevented him from playing. Charles Stoudamire was elected to the Portland State University Hall of Fame in 2002.
